Q:
How does the PowerManage server notify me or my customers about events received from the control panel?

The PowerManage server is capable of forwarding events by several methods. The type of method depends on the control panel’s configuration.
a. Via a serial or an IP connection to a monitoring software
b. Through e-mail to a separate, configurable email address for each
control panel*
c. As a text message (SMS) to a separate, configurable phone number for
each control panel
d. As a multimedia message (MMS) to a separate, configurable phone number
for each control panel
*Only for PowerLink units or PowerG control panels

Q:
How long can the distance between receiver and transmitter be?

The range basically depends on several conditions and it may vary. Before the installation of a transmitter, a transmission should be initiated at the planned installation site (e.g. activating the tamper switch). The panels as well as the MCR-308 have feature a test mode to check the signal strength. Sometimes a displacement of the transmitter or receiver by a few centimeters is enough to have a good signal strength. For Indoor installations, no proper indications are available. For an outdoor installation ranges up to 300m line of sight can be reached.

Q:

With the MCX-600/610 wireless repeater the transmission range can be extended. For that purpose, an MCX-600/610 should be installed between transmitter and receiver. The signals from the transmitter are received by the MCX-600/610 and are resent immediately. In large Installations, if various signal repeaters are necessary, up to 16 signal repeaters can be cascaded (MCX-600 only). Thus, it is possible to extend the range beyond 1000m. It should be noted that each signal repeater needs its own power supply and must be fitted with an emergency battery in case of a network outage. It is important to understand that signals from transmitters with alternating code (CodeSecure™) cannot be processed (MCX-600).

Q:
Why doesn't the LED of the motion detector turn on at every movement, even though the LED of the motion detector is switched by means of jumpers?
Visonic powermax remote programmer software download

The motion detector is built in such a way that the radio transmitter unit goes into sleep mode after the last determined motion in the room for a period of two minutes. If in that period a motion occurs, then the window of time for the sleep mode is restarted. This mechanism was installed for energy efficiency reasons.

No superfluous transmissions are sent to the panel if a person stays in a room longer and moves. To test the range, the walktest mode of the motion detector, which suppresses the sleep mode, must be enabled. The procedure to launch the walktest mode can be found in the instructions of the relevant motion detector.

Q:

The child latchkey function must be enabled in the Installer menu. To activate this mode, the user needs to push the 'arming away' key twice within two seconds when arming the system. In the display, the message 'active info mode' appears and the words “child latchkey” are heard through the speaker. And the user code / keyfob / tag that allocate to for the chilled need to be 5 to 8.

Q:
Can control signals be reproduced by a potential intruder?

Handheld transmitters transmitting control signals to arm/disarm the panel system have a special alternating code. This code can only be received once by the panel system. Recording and reproducing such a code is therefore unnecessary, since this can not work the way the intruder wants. Other Visonic receivers can also be controlled with such handheld transmitters. Be aware that the MCX-600wireless repeater cannot reproduce such signals.

Visonic powermax remote programmer softwareQ:
How can I know if the battery of a transmitter is low?

All installed transmitters have their batteries monitored and transmit a corresponding signal to the receiver. On the panel, in the case of a 'low battery' warning, a corresponding message (LED, text, voice message) is enabled. Handheld transmitters show their battery status on the transmission LED.

Q:

The lifetime of a battery depends on how often it is used. With average use, a lifetime of two to three years can be assumed for a battery. This time can be reduced in transmitters used more often than the average (e.g. magnetic transmitters at frequently-used building doors). For the miniature handheld transmitter it is recommended that the batteries are replaced once a year.

Q:
Does a transmitter fail if the battery warning was transmitted to the receiver?

All installed transmitters regularly test the status of the battery and transmit it to the panel. In the case of a 'low battery' warning on the panel,
a corresponding message (LED, text, voice message) is enabled. The low battery warning does not immediately cause the transmitter to shut down. The battery can be replaced in a few weeks with no need to hurry.

Q:
Why does the message CPU Low battery appear immediately and the phone connection is broken during installation?

The panels batteries are tested in regular intervals. If during installation, batteries are inserted, it can take up to a few hours until they are fully charged. The message is then automatically deleted. If the panel is operated with no phone connection, the communication settings in the installer menu, the transmission of the protocols to the central station and to private must be set to 'no report'.

Q:
Why can handheld transmitters such as MCT-201 WP or MCT-101/102/104 not be enrolled as keyfobs?

The panel has two memory areas where transmitters can be programmed. An area is designated 'Keyfob Program'. This area is reserved for keyfobs that can be used to activate/disable the central station. It must be noted that only 4-channel hand transmitters with alternating code can be enrolled into this area (MCT-234 or MCT-237). Other handheld transmitters used for controls or signals must be enrolled in 'program notifier'. These handheld transmitters can, like any other alarm notifier, be allocated to a specific function in 'Programming Zones'. MCT-102 can define
as key zone and function as keyfob.

Q:

The user codes can be changed in the 'User Settings' menu. It can be change by the master user or by installer form installer menu.

* Installer can change user code only if this option is enabled

Q:

Press the status button on the Keyfob or press [OK] repeatedly to review the memory condition. Start the ARMING process then disarm the system. The memory prompt should be cleared, if not press the [OK] key repeatedly until the prompt clears.

Q:

This is an important feature as panels in a constant jamming mode can not hear other transmitters on the system which causes inactivity and testing problems. To fix this problem, check if there is anything around the panel that could be causing RF interferences, for example, baby monitor, WiFi transmitter, door bell etc. To eliminate anything within the home, if possible, turn off the main electricity supply.

Q:
Can system-external switches, notifiers, gauges and other devices be hooked to the system?

Yes they can. With the transmitters MCT-302 and MCT-100, all devices can be connected by radio to the panel or other Visonic receivers. If the devices prepare a potential-free output, they can be connected to the wired inputs of the MCT-302 or the MCT-100. In this way, the statuses can be transmitted to a receiver and the appropriate actions can be taken. The panel is particularly appropriate for automation and controls, since beside these functions, an automatic message about the execution can be sent to a phone or receiving central station. In addition to the connection by radio, the panel also provides a wired input that can be used in that context.

Q:
The system display shows [NOT READY] or [NOT READY - TROUBLE] – what should I do?

There is a fault outstanding, press the status button on any keyfob or press the [OK] button repeatedly and listen to each message. Any “…Alarm” messages for example “Hall Tamper Alarm” can be ignored however, zone and tamper open messages need to be addressed i.e. “Hall Tamper OPEN”.

Q:

Zone types or zone definitions are programmed values that determine how the intrusion alarm panel will respond to a fault or signal from a sensor(s) connected to that zone. The number of zone types available will vary depending upon the manufacturer and the model of the panel.
The zone types selected will depend on how you want the system to respond to certain alarm or non-alarm events.

Q:
How many PowerManage, formerly called IPMP, server installations have been completed worldwide?

Over 100 installations have been successfully performed all over the world, in both big and small monitoring stations.

Q:
Can my monitoring software connect to your server and receive events from it?

Most likely. We support the forwarding of events to almost any off-the-shelf monitoring software using the Surgard MLR-2 protocol. Here is a partial list of monitoring software programs currently working with PowerManage:

  • Mastermind
  • SBN
  • Bold
  • Bold Manitou
  • IBS
  • Stages
  • DICE
  • Rhythm
  • ZUM
  • More
  • Interview
  • Larm2000

PowerManage has also been integrated with Mastermind and the Bold Manitou monitoring software for the forwarding of video images.

Also, we have developed a protocol so monitoring software vendors can integrate with PowerManage servers in order to receive video images.

PowerManage servers can forward events using the protocols mentioned above to either a serial RS-232 port or a TCP/UDP port.
