I've written a big application recently dealing mainly with Serial
communications with external instruments
My suggestion to you is write it yourself, it's not very complicated
nowadays, and every package i've
tried is faulty in some way.

I use a text file which defines the protocol and a simple unit that i've
written which utilizes all the commands that I need
in an easy to use format

p.s - sorry i cant send example, but i'm not allowed to send out code from
work
